The American Boerboel Club Mission Statement:

  • To encourage and promote quality in the breeding of purebred Boerboels, to do all possible, within our power, to bring the natural qualities of the Boerboel (character, conformation and working ability) to perfection and to promote ethical breeding practices.
  • To urge members and breeders to accept the standard of the breed as approved by the American Kennel Club as the only standard of excellence by which the Boerboel shall be judged. Through our guardianship, promote and preserve the true and original Boerboel as envisioned by the breed’s founding fathers, recognizing and breeding only the original accepted colors (Brindle, Brown, Cream, Irish Marked, Red, Reddish Brown, Tawny, and Piebald), to educate current and prospective judges to that standard and to educate and mentor those who fancy the Boerboel breed.
  • To do all in our power to protect and advance the interests of the breed by encouraging sportsmanlike competition at dog shows, obedience trials, tracking tests, herding and agility trials and any other American Kennel Club sanctioned events where Boerboels are, or will be, permitted to participate, promoting fair play over individual gain. To conduct sanctioned matches, specialty shows, obedience trials and other events under the rules of the American Kennel Club.

Serving the breed since 2006, the American Boerboel Club is the parent club for the breed, is a member of the American Kennel Club, and as such, is the only national Boerboel Breed Club which is recognized and sanctioned by the American Kennel Club.
